Drivers Association concerned over delay in taxi metre introduction

President of the Maldives Drivers Association Abdulla Ibrahim has stated there are no issues regarding the new prices, however, expressing concern over the delay in introducing the taxi metres.

Speaking at a meeting held with media, Abdulla Ibrahim said the association welcomes the new prices imposed by Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, assuring there are no concerns in following the new prices. He noted despite the decision to introduce taxi metres, there are concerns as there are no action taken to implement the decision. He said if the ministry decides on a date to introduce taxi metres, the centres are more than willing to install metres on the taxis.

The drivers who spoke to the media refuted rumours circulated, saying they will take any price they seem fit, assuring rules will be followed. Furthermore, they dismissed comments made stating they were going on strike or submitting a case to the court.
