Five areas to be developed for surfing

In a bid to develop surfing in Maldives, 5 areas would be allocated for the sport, according to Minister of Youth, Sport and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof.

In a tweet, Minister Mahloof said after discussions with Maldives Surfing Association, 5 areas would be developed for surfing, along with providing equipment and other facilities. In this regard, the minister said surfing areas would be developed in Lhohi in Noonu Atoll, Muli in Meemu Atoll, Maabaidhoo in Laamu Atoll, Vaadhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll and Fuvahmulah City.

The minister noted Maldives have taken remarkable strides in surfing and the sport should be further developed by providing the necessary facilities. He expressed more Maldivians could take up surfing and win medals in international tournaments with the allocation and development of new areas for the sport.
