Vice President Faisal Naseem has inaugurated the speed ferry services in Hoarafushi in Haa Alifu Atoll.
The ferry system was commenced as part of the project initiated by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to provide speed ferry services in Haa Alifu and Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
Speaking to PSM News, Head of Transport Department Mohamed Nazim said the ferry service will ease the transportation within neighbouring islands. In this regard, he added speed ferries from Hoarafushi to Ihavandhoo and Dhidhdhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll and to Hanimaadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll will be operated six days a week.
Noting the operation commenced as part of the project to enhance transportation services in atolls, Nazim said a fee of between USD 9.68 and USD 12.91 will be charged.
Vice President Naseem inaugurated the services as part of his three-day tour of Haa Alifu Atoll.
