Complaints on parliamentary elections can be filed at High Court on voting day

High Court of Maldives has enabled filing complaints regarding the parliamentary elections on voting day.

Registration will be open from 0800 hours to 2200 hours on election day to ease filing complaints, according to the High Court. The court advised to submit all complaints with necessary documents, adding details must be filed with the complaints. The authority to investigate complaints regarding elections falls on the mandate of the High Court.

Complaints on elections must be filed within 14 days since the announcement of the final results, according to the constitution. The High Court is required to conclude investigations of all complaints within 30 days of the final results.
