Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail has expressed the importance of non-government organisations (NGOs) in including the emotions and the opinions of the public within the governing system.
Addressing the ceremony held to inaugurate Havali Fair held to empower NGOs, Economic Minister Fayyaz said the organisations play a bigger role in including the sentiment of the general public in the governing system. He mentioned the biggest contribution towards securing democracy in Maldives was made by NGOs.
Furthermore, Minister Fayyaz highlighted the efforts which can be exerted by NGOs to hold the government accountable. The minister assured to work towards empowering NGOs, individually and within the government. He further encouraged all NGOs to continue with the efforts.
