Newport View Restaurant premises to be vacated

State has ordered owners of Newport View Restaurant situated next to the bridge view platform to vacate the premises.

According to the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure, the permit given to Newport has been cancelled as of Sunday, and the owner has been asked to vacate the slot.

The Planning Ministry has given a period of 30 days for the owners to vacate the premises. Planning Ministry revealed, this is part of its efforts to facilitate the development plan for the bridge viewing area.

Planning Ministry said although 30 days have been given to vacate the premises, the owners are not allowed to conduct business at the premises even during these 30 days.

The 10,000 square-foot plot was awarded to Newport's parent company Strada Private Limited, during the previous administration.
