President arrives in Sri Lanka on a state visit

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih arrives in Sri Lanka, on a state visit made on the invitation of President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena.

The president, first lady and the delegation of the government of Maldives was received at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

First Lady Fazna Ahmed and a high-level delegation of the government of Maldives are accompanying the president on his visit. The president will partake in the 71st Independence Day celebrations of Sri Lanka as the Guest of Honour.

During the three-day visit, President Solih will hold one-to-one deliberations with President Maithripala Sirisena on charting the course for future Maldives-Sri Lanka bilateral ties. Further, an official welcoming ceremony will be held at the Presidential Secretariat. President Maithripala Sirisena will also host President Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed for a State Luncheon.

As part of the state visit, the president will meet the Prime Minister Wickremesinghe and other senior officials of Sri Lankan government.

In addition, the president will also meet the Maldivian community residing in Sri Lanka.
