Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) Cargo Services has said a drastic increase is seen in the cargo throughput in the past 5 years. The overall tonnage from 2013 to 2018 has increased by 37% with an overall increment of 240% from cargo business growth, as per the statistical information.
Cargo Services took initiatives on a five-year plan to increase the overall efficiency of cargo operations as well as cargo business growth. The boost in the overall growth is by the introduction of new services like export physical handling, introduction of new RA3 (European Standard) certified transhipment gateways, facilitating porter services for export customers, introduction of temperature controlled storage facilities for import customers and overall increase of cargo import capacity by extending the warehouse capacity by 200% .
MACL Cargo Services has made plans for the next five years which will lead to an increase in business growth by 2024.
