Male' City Council has decided to establish a special task force to monitor construction undertaken around the city. The task force will monitor whether construction activities in Male', Hulhumale' and Vilimale’ are conducted in accordance with the regulations.
An incident of a fallen cement bag from a construction site caused the death of a nine-year old girl which brought attention to the careless construction activities in Male'. The task force includes members from Male' City Council, Ministry of Planning and Infrastructure, Maldives Police Service, Maldives National Defence Force, Architecture Association and Engineering Association.
