Indian government officially welcomes Maldivian President and First Lady

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed have received a grand welcome from the government of India. The ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

President Solih and First Lady Fazna were officially received at the presidential palace by Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On arrival of the president and the first lady at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Indian Army fired a 21-gun salute.

When President Solih ascended the saluting dais, presentations of arms was conducted and the national anthems of Maldives and India were played. President Solih then inspected a guard of honour accorded to him.

At the official welcome ceremony, the Indian dignitaries at the receiving line were introduced to President Solih; and the Maldivian dignitaries were introduced to President Ram Nath Kovind. After the ceremonial welcome, the president and the first lady visited Rajghat and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
