UNDP announces winners of Urban Innovation Challenge

United Nations Development Program (UNDP) announced the winners of Urban Innovation Challenge.

Urban Innovation Challenge was held in partnership with Ooredoo Maldives and Housing Development Corporation (HDC) in the Maldives. The programme provided a platform for youth participants to come up with innovative ideas to three challenges put forth by the three partners that will bring solutions for many key areas in developing a smart city.

The theme of the Urban Innovation Challenge focused on Hulhumalé, was ''Solutions for Public Services, Increasing Urban Resilience,'' while the main focus points of the programme was social housing, urban mobility and urban waste reduction and management. The winning idea of the programme is Digital Town Hall, by Ahmed Shaneel, Muizzu Abbas and Adam Shaheer, and was granted MVR 120,000 as prize money.

The programme held from October 17-27 was participated by 36 youth.
