Housing projects in Maldives outstand regional development: Janah

Chairman of Maldives Building and Construction Board Mohamed Ali Janah has revealed housing projects initiated by the government outstand developmental efforts conducted in the region.
The social housing schemes initiated by the government are inspired from such schemes conducted in countries such as Singapore to solve housing issues, Chairman of Maldives Building and Construction Board Mohamed Ali Janah said speaking at a panel discussion held by Public Service Media (PSM) on the theme "My Nation, My Future". In this regard, the chairman stated adapting schemes which are successfully implemented by other developed countries will benefit the social and economic development of Maldives.
The government of Maldives has commenced the largest ever social housing project in Maldives to provide affordable housing units for a population of over 100,000. As part of the project, the government has now begun constructing thousands of housing units in Hulhumale'. Moreover, the government has also announced an additional social housing development scheme, Villimale'-2, which would guarantee proper housing for the entire population of Maldives.
Citing these projects, Janah assured infrastructure development projects will always be supported by the private sector, noting the policies of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on development will benefit every individual and the future generations. Furthermore, Janah, who is also the Chairman of Hotels and Resorts Construction Private Limited and a Board Director of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), mentioned the projects initiated by the government comes with a solid plan and hailed the importance attached by the administration on the sectors most in need.
Shedding light on the efforts exerted by the government to maintain the dollar rate, decrease inflation and increase state reserve, Janah stated the objectives have been achieved within the past couple of years which shows the success of the government. He further spoke on the Free Trade Agreement established with China urging the public to make the best use of such agreements.
