Maldives Media Council has urged all media institutions to refrain from publicising content which will hinder the relationship between Maldives and other countries. A statement issued regarding complaints that some articles published by some media outlets defame the bilateral relations,
Media Council stated that it will review content published which may cause negative impacts on foreign relations and national security. The Council further said that it will all be reviewed and investigated, according to rules and regulations. As it is the responsibility of the Council to educate and raise awareness among media institutions, it reiterated the media outlets to avoid publishing any content which may obstruct or defame the country in any manner.
