On the occasion of the 69th Independence Day of Sri Lanka, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has conveyed felicitations to President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
“On the auspicious occasion of the Independence Day of Sri Lanka, the Government and the people of the Maldives join me in extending our warm felicitations and sincere good wishes to Your Excellency, the Government and the friendly people of Sri Lanka,” the President’s message to President Maithripala Sirisena read. “I am convinced that through our joint efforts, the extant relations grounded in close cooperation, understanding and reciprocity will be further strengthened in the coming years to ensure a stronger development partnership for the mutual benefit of two peoples and countries as well as continued regional peace and prosperity.”
“Let me also convey, Excellency, my personal best wishes for your good health and happiness, and for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Sri Lanka,” the message added.
