Drawing a parallel to historical martyrs who repelled armed subjugation, in remarks made during an official address marking Victory Day, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu maintained that the Maldivian state must break free from sovereign debt by elevating national interest above political discord. Overcoming these liabilities will reinforce the republic’s economic backbone and fund long-term citizen development.
"There is a reason for defending independence," President Muizzu asserted, defining the mission as safeguarding sovereignty across intellectual and domestic capabilities. "Its purpose is to ensure stability and security for the public. It is to secure for citizens a prosperous, blissful, and happy life."
In executing fiscal adjustments to secure financial independence, the government will refrain from compromising core national pillars, including the republic’s 100 per cent Islamic identity, absolute sovereignty, or distinct cultural heritage, President Muizzu assured the public, focusing state efforts on safeguarding Maldivian national identity.
