President inaugrates Health and Family Expo in Hulhumale'

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has inaugrated the annual Health and Family Expo, organised by the Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare.

During the ceremony, the President also launched a book highlighting 156 initiatives undertaken in the health sector and toured the exhibition stalls.

The expo will run from today until Saturday evening at Hulhumalé Central Park. This is the third year the event has been held. Following strong public interest in the previous two editions, more than 60 stalls have been set up this year, featuring hospitals and clinics in the Greater Malé area, non-governmental organisations and a regional hospital from the atolls.

The Ministry said the expo aims to raise public awareness of community health, healthy lifestyles, gender equality and the support available to people in vulnerable circumstances. It will also provide information on national, social and health insurance schemes.

The event brings together institutions, organisations and healthcare facilities to showcase their services under one roof. It also provides an opportunity for the public to raise concerns with the Ministry and seek answers, while offering activities for families to enjoy together.

Activities specifically designed for children include health check-ups, information on balanced nutrition and growth and development, vaccination guidance and other health-related educational and recreational activities.

The expo will also feature health information and screening services specifically for expatriates, activities targeting young people and information on mental well-being.

In addition, food stalls will provide visitors with information on healthy eating habits and nutrition.

The programme will also include musical performances, horror-themed attractions and various other entertainment activities.
