MNU makes historic debut in QS Asia University Rankings 2027

The Maldives National University (MNU) has made history by securing its first-ever place in the internationally recognised QS Asia University Rankings 2027.

According to the rankings, MNU has been placed in the 1,101–1,200 band across Asia and among the top 400 universities in South Asia. It has also secured the highest position among universities in the Maldives featured in the rankings.

MNU said its inclusion in the QS Asia University Rankings, a globally recognised university ranking system, provides an important opportunity to assess the university's standards and performance against international benchmarks and indicators. It also offers a basis for identifying the university's strengths and areas for further improvement in the quality of education.

Commenting on the achievement, MNU Vice Chancellor Dr Aishath Shehenaz Adam expressed gratitude to all university staff, students and supporters who contributed to reaching this milestone through their efforts and dedication.

The QS Asia University Rankings assess universities based on several indicators, including the volume and quality of research publications, faculty-to-student ratios, the internationalisation of education and the extent of international research collaboration.

MNU's inclusion in the rankings marks a significant step forward for the Maldives' higher education sector and reflects the growing international recognition of the country's education system.
