The Maldives has unveiled its major global tourism campaign, "Visit Maldives Year 2027 – Celebrate the Sunny Side," targeting international media and key travel trade partners at the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2026.
The initiative follows the declaration by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu designating the upcoming period as a dedicated milestone to accelerate growth across the nation's tourism sector.
The official announcement was made during a press conference led by Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen and Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) CEO and Managing Director Abdulla Yasir, attended by senior government officials, industry leaders, and global media outlets.
Addressing attendees, Minister Ameen described the campaign as a national journey that unifies the public and the hospitality sector to highlight Maldivian identity, rich heritage, and world-renowned hospitality. He noted that the goal is to reinforce the country’s premier standing on the global stage and secure long-term economic benefits for local enterprises.
Echoing this vision, VMC CEO Yasir emphasised that the campaign bridges the gap between high-end private island resorts and local island communities. He highlighted that 2027 will focus on creating inclusive economic opportunities while driving international arrivals across emerging and established source markets.
The multi-year initiative will feature global roadshows, cultural showcases, and targeted marketing drives aimed at broadening community participation and expanding tourist arrivals nationwide.
