Minister of Health, Family and Welfare Geela Ali visited three islands in Noonu Atoll today as part of her official tour of the atoll.
The Minister visited Manadhoo, Holhudhoo and Velidhoo during the tour, where she and her delegation received warm welcomes from residents of all three islands.
In Manadhoo, the first stop of the tour, the Minister visited Noonu Atoll Hospital and conducted a comprehensive assessment of the hospital's current condition. She also held separate discussions with the hospital management and staff from various departments to gain an understanding of the challenges and difficulties faced in delivering services.
The discussions focused on important measures needed to further improve the hospital's standards and expand the range of healthcare services available to residents. Extensive consultations were held on areas that could be developed to strengthen healthcare services at the atoll hospital.
The Minister also visited the Family and Children Centre established in Manadhoo. During the visit, she met with the centre's management and staff, as well as the children staying there, and reviewed their wellbeing. She also observed the social support and protection services provided by the centre and discussed measures that could be taken to further strengthen those services.
The Minister's second destination was Holhudhoo, where she visited the Holhudhoo Health Centre and reviewed its current condition. She also held important discussions with the centre's management and staff. The discussions focused primarily on measures that could be implemented jointly in the short term to improve the quality of healthcare provided to the people of Holhudhoo and further strengthen its services.
As part of the official tour, the Minister also visited Velidhoo. During the visit, she went to the island's health centre and reviewed its operations, including how its activities are planned and how services are being provided to the public.
The visit is regarded as an important step towards strengthening the healthcare system across the inhabited islands of Noonu Atoll and advancing healthcare services in the atoll to a new level.
