The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded contracts for infrastructure projects in five islands.
The agreements were signed on 2 September at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development. State Minister Ismail Hameed representing the ministry, while Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Jamsheed signed on behalf of MTCC.
The agreements cover harbour and shore protection projects on five islands. They are:
1. Design and build contract for land reclamation and shore protection work phase II in Funadhoo, Shaviyani Atoll.
2. Design and build contract for harbour development in Madaveli, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
3. Design and build contract for shore protection structures in Dharanboodhoo, Faafu Atoll.
4. Design and build contract for harbour repair in Gaafaru, Kaafu Atoll.
5. Design and build contract for land reclamation and shore protection work phase II in Maafushi, Kaafu Atoll.
Four additional projects were awarded on 1 September: Shore protection projects in Kihaadhoo, Baa Atoll and Muraidhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll; harbour maintenance dredging and jetty construction in Bandidhoo, Dhaalu Atoll, and harbour upgrade works and land reclamation for fisheries infrastructure in Kelaa, Haa Alifu Atoll.
