Middle East-linked delays to development projects will be solved: President

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the challenges affecting development projects in the Maldives, stemming from Middle East tensions, will be resolved and that progress will accelerate significantly in the near future.

He made these remarks at a press briefing held at the President's Office on Monday.

The President shared updates on several key projects underway in the Greater Male’ Area and the atolls, including the Gulhifalhu and Rasmale’ project. He assured that despite recent slowdowns, these challenges will be resolved and work will pick up pace, with any ground lost to delays fully recovered.

The President said Gulhifalhu project is progressing as previously reported, with some vehicles newly acquired by the Road Development Corporation (RDC) already being used for the work. Land allocation work related to the Gulhifalhu project is also underway, he said.

On the Rasmale’ project, the President revealed that the project is progressing well, with about 60 percent of the work completed. Work on the Giraavaru Falhu project is also continuing.

The President said fuel supply difficulties for construction vehicles, linked to the Middle East conflict, have contributed to project delays. He emphasised that the swift completion of these projects remains a top priority for the administration.
