The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a forecast warning residents and tourists to prepare for a significant increase in rainfall and above-average temperatures over the next four months.
In a formal announcement made via social media, the Met Office detailed that from June through September, a large portion of the island nation can expect precipitation levels to rise substantially above seasonal norms.
This prediction comes as many parts of the archipelago have already experienced a noticeable shift in conditions over the past week, with bright, hot days giving way to increasingly overcast skies and persistent rain showers. Compounding the forecast for wetter weather, the agency also stated that temperatures across all regions are expected to remain above normal throughout this prolonged period.
In response to the immediate outlook, the Met Office has already begun issuing specific weather warnings for heavy rains and potential thunderstorms in certain atolls. The agency is strongly urging the public to exercise caution, stay updated on the latest bulletins, and take necessary precautions against possible flooding and travel disruptions.
