In anticipation of World No Tobacco Day on 31 May, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has officially announced the opening of applications for its annual World No Tobacco Day Award.
This prestigious accolade is designed to honour and celebrate the exceptional contributions of individuals, organisations, and state agencies leading the charge in tobacco control efforts across the nation. The initiative aligns with the vibrant commemorations held annually in Maldives, reinforcing the country's commitment to a healthier, tobacco-free future.
The award seeks to formally recognise the dedicated work of those on the front lines of public health, from advocacy and education to policy implementation, and to encourage their continued vital efforts.
Eligibility is extended to any entity whose work has significantly contributed to controlling tobacco use and protecting Maldivian society from its dangers, with a particular emphasis on initiatives that resonate with this year’s critical theme—“Unmasking the appeal – countering nicotine and tobacco addiction.”
The HPA has invited all interested and qualifying parties to submit their applications or nominations via email to [email protected] before 2 May.
