Gov't supporting public needs despite economic pressures, says Vice President

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has stated that the government is ensuring that the public’s essential needs are met despite the challenges posed by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

He made the remarks at a ceremony held to commence the construction of Fares Maathoda land reclamation and harbour development project in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

In his address, the Vice President said development projects are carried out with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s foresight and wisdom. He noted that the government is undertaking significant efforts to repay loans taken by previous governments, including raising funds from multiple sources to manage state finances.

The Vice President said despite the economic downturn, the government will continue to meet essential needs and basic rights of the people while also undertaking infrastructural development projects necessary across the islands.
