Practical work has commenced on the development of a 50-unit housing project in Madaveli, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
The project was awarded to Mims Construction Pvt Ltd on 6 November 2025 and was officially inaugurated by Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef. The ceremony was attended by the Managing Director of Mims Construction Pvt Ltd, Saudulla Hilmy, along with members of the Madaveli Council.
According to the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, the project will deliver 50 three-bedroom housing units and is scheduled for completion within 450 days.
During a previous community outreach visit, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu pledged to address the island’s priorities, including land reclamation and shore protection, and assured residents that practical work would commence. He also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to resolving housing challenges on the island, emphasising that housing remains a significant priority.
