According to MPL, the company cleared 38,836 containers from the 1st – 8th February. These include 20-foot containers and 40-foot containers. The highest number of containers cleared during the period was on the 3rd of February. As per figures, a total of 6,544 containers were cleared on this day.
The figures also revealed that the highest number of items cleared from the commercial port last week were basic food items such as eggs, onions and potatoes. Eggs were the items which received the most clearance, with 26,536.
Other food items noted for most clearance include watermelon, bananas, pineapples and tomatoes.
MPL has stepped up efforts to speed up its operations, which is reflected in the figures showing the rising clearance rate. The time taken by MPL to clear goods has been reduced many times over compared to the previous year.
