Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Maldives Thalassemia Society have signed an agreement to raise awareness on thalassemia in Hulhumale’.
A special signing ceremony was held in HDC head office. The agreement was signed on behalf of HDC by the company’s Managing Director, Ali Zuhair and on behalf of Maldives Thalassemia Society, by the society’s Chairperson Imaan Mohamed.
HDC said that under the agreement they will secure office space for the thalassemia society to conduct its operations in Hulhumale’. To add to this, both parties will collobarate to conduct thalassemia awareness sessions in both phase 1 and phase 2 of the city.
Furthermore, HDC said that the purpose of the agreement is to provide information to as many people as possible on thalassemia, and work towards reducing the number of children born with the condition.
HDC concluded by saying its aim is to continue conducting similar programmes in the future, which would have a positive impact on society.
