Correctional Service launches ‘My MCS Portal’ and digital reforms

The Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has launched the ‘My MCS Portal’, a new digital platform aimed at modernising public services and strengthening institutional operations.

The portal was inaugurated on 4 February alongside two additional reforms — a Prisoner Data Management System and a Strategic Action Plan — forming part of a broader initiative to digitise administrative functions and upgrade the agency’s infrastructure.

Now fully operational, the My MCS Portal replaces the previous e-service platform with a streamlined system designed for improved public access. Through secure authentication via the eFaas system, users can request criminal record clearances, submit visitation applications for legal representatives and family members, apply for employment opportunities, and transfer funds to incarcerated individuals.

The bilingual platform, available in Dhivehi and English, is expected to reduce processing times and enhance administrative efficiency. MCS stated that the system has been developed with a scalable architecture capable of integrating advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, in future phases.

The newly introduced Prisoner Data Management System centralises inmate and detainee records into a unified database. Officials said the system addresses previous data inconsistencies and enables real-time information sharing with judicial courts, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Maldives Police Service.

Digitisation of medical and personal records is also expected to accelerate case processing and reduce administrative delays.

Meanwhile, the Strategic Action Plan outlines measures to organise prison operations more systematically, strengthen institutional management, and support structured inmate rehabilitation and reintegration. MCS officials added that the reforms will contribute to enhanced professional development and capacity building among officers and staff.
