Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim has inaugurated a new building for the health center in Miladhoo, Noonu Atoll.
As part of the government’s effort to improve healthcare quality across all atolls, the current administration has concentrated a significant effort to develop health center building facilities across the nation. As part of these efforts, the health minister is currently travelling to Noonu Atoll. As part of this trip, the health minister has inaugurated the new building designed to tackle the space constraints previously faced in the island’s health center. Addityionally, laboratory services were inaugurated in both Miladhoo and Maalhendhoo.
Speaking at the ceremony, the health minister said that he most frequent requests received by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during his community outreach across the nation was to establish laboratory facilities in respective islands. As such, the President has set a target that by the end of 2026, every inhabited island across the nation will have laboratory services available. The health sector is working on achieving this target, he said.
Previously, the laboratory services in Miladhoo were provided as a mobile laboratory service. For more than a year, the island’s health center has been struggling to maintain its services due to space constraints. The government said that with the addition of the new building, Healthcare service quality will improve, and work can be done to expand on preventive care.
