Voting begins for PNC primary for local council elections

Voting has commenced in the primary election of the ruling party, the People's National Congress (PNC), in preparation for next year’s Local Council Elections (LCEs).

The voting process commenced at 0900hrs and is scheduled to conclude at 1600hrs. PNC has witnessed a notable interest from 298 members across various constituencies contesting for the party’s ticket. These are for 84 positions in 42 contituencies.

PNC informed that there are candidates who will contest in next year’s council elections without a primary being contested. These individuals’ candidacies can be viewed via PNC party portal.

Opportunities to contest at PNC’s primary were opened on the 1st of December.
