Saturday declared as first day of Dhul Hajjah

The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia on Thursday declared Saturday (September 3) as the first day of Dhul Hajjah, 1437.

The Court decided on the matter after holding a meeting to ascertain on the moon sighting reports.

The Islamic Calendar previously shows Friday as the first day of Dhul Hijja, however, as there were no confirmed sightings of the moon on Thursday evening, in Saudi Arabia and in any of its neighboring countries, Saudi Arabian Supreme Court announced its decision to confirm that September 3 to be the first day of Dhul Hijja. Therefore, the day of Arafat or Hajj Day will be Sunday (September 11) and consecutively Eid Al-Adha will be celebrated on Monday (September 12).
