Velana International Airport (VIA)’s Terminal 1 now serves 32 airlines, according to Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), with Singapore Airlines becoming the latest carrier to begin operating from the terminal.
A special ceremony was held at VIA to mark the airline’s move to Terminal 1. The airline’s check-in counters were officially opened as part of the ceremony, with 205 departing passengers receiving gifts, while 244 arriving passengers on the first Singapore Airlines flight to use the terminal were welcomed with cultural performances.
The first Singapore Airlines flight to use Terminal 1 was operated by an Airbus A350, marking the first Airbus A350 welcomed at the terminal.
According to the Ministry of Tourism’s latest Weekly Tourism Update, a total of 35 airlines currently operate flights to the Maldives. With 32 now operating from the new terminal, MACL said it aims to provide high-quality and comprehensive services to all airlines operating from Terminal 1.
