The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has entrusted the Ummeedhu Association with the distribution of Qur’an Mus’hafs donated to mosques across the Maldives. The agreement was signed by both parties at a ceremony held on Monday.
According to the Ministry, numerous councils have requested Mus’hafs, and the task of distributing the books to these islands will now be coordinated through the Ummeedhu Association.
In April this year, Saudi Arabia donated 25,000 Qur’an Mus’hafs to the Maldives. The Ministry stated that these donated copies will be sent to islands councils for onward donation to the respective mosques.
Various programmes are being conducted across Maldives to facilitate the memorisation of the Qur'an and to teach proper reading and recitation. The Ministry emphasised that support from Saudi Arabia is playing a vital role in promoting Qur’an education across the country.
