Aminath Zeneesha Shaheed Zaki, Minister of Gender and Family, on Thursday constituted a stakeholders working group for discussions relating to children in need of special care or protection.
The Working Group comprises officials from Ministry of Home Affairs, Juvenile Justice Unit, Family and Child Protection Department of Maldives Police Service, the Prosecutor General’s Office and UNICEF.
The main purpose of the Working Group is facilitate communication and strengthen cooperation between the government agencies and organisations that deal with children who are in need of special care and protection, the Gender Ministry said.
On Thursday, the Gender Minister also constituted a task force comprising senior Ministry officials to oversee matters relating to children under state care, the Ministry added.
