President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Sunday, inaugurates the fully equipped newly expanded dialysis center in Hulhumale’ Hospital.

After opening the centre, President Dr Muizzu inspected the services and facilities.

In addition to the dialysis centre, the ER expansion project of Hulhumale’ Hospital was awarded to the Road Development Corporation Limited (RDC) last November which was completed and opened in May this year, amid a wider plan to develop healthcare services to meet the ever increasing population of Hulhumale’.

Two private contractors were awarded the dialysis expansion contract in February this year to add 30 more beds to the existing dialysis centre at Hulhumale’ Hospital.

The dialysis centre located at the Hulhumale' Hospital had just 10 beds with one reserved for emergencies as the hospital worked hard to improve quality of services since the centre was opened in 2012.

Hulhumale' Hospital was officially inaugurated as a tertiary hospital on November 16, as part of President Dr Muizzu’s commitment to elevating healthcare services. The hospital now offers a range of advanced services typically provided by tertiary-level facilities, including: modern Operation Theatre Complex with four specialised rooms for ophthalmology, orthopaedics, gynaecology, and general surgery, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 10 beds, an isolation unit for managing communicable diseases, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with 14 specialised beds.
