EYC chair urges public cooperation in development efforts

Ahmed Zuhoor, Chair of the Economic and Youth Council, on Tuesday evening appealed to all citizens to put aside political differences and cooperate with the government in its efforts to develop the country.

He made the call Tuesday evening, speaking as the chief guest of a ceremony held to mark the 6th anniversary of Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).

Since its establishment in 2010, MIRA has come a long way in establishing itself as a highly committed and competent organisation that delivers effective and fair administration of the tax laws, and provides quality services to taxpayers.

Speaking at the ceremony held to mark the 6th anniversary of MIRA, Minister Ahmed Zuhoor, Chair of the Economic and Youth Council, said the state is collecting taxes for the betterment of the people. He noted that some are deliberately avoiding taxes and said the combined efforts of everyone, regardless of political differences, are necessary for the development of the country.
