President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called on all Maldivians to make each Eid a joyful memory and a blessed celebration that resonates deeply in all hearts. He made these remarks in his address commemorating Eid al-Adha 1446.
In his message shared on his official X account and during his address, the President extended warm Eid greetings to the people of the Maldives and Muslims around the world. He highlighted the importance of nurturing spiritual values and promoting harmony during these blessed days. He prayed for Allah (SWT) to grant the blessings and rewards of the holy days to Maldivians and to the global Muslim community.
Quoting verse 110 of Surah Al-Imran, the President noted that Allah (SWT) has elevate the Islamic Ummah as the bed among mankind. He stated that this honour stems from the Ummah holding on to righteousness, guiding others towards good, and avoiding unlawful actions.
In his Eid address, the President also highlighted the beauty of Islamic societies, especially during the festive days of Eid.
"With the joy of Eid, noblest characteristics seen in Islamic societies are the coming together of people in beautiful attire and fragrance, standing shoulder to shoulder in prayer without discrimination and inequality, thanking Allah for His blessings, and raising their voices together in Takbeer. It is a time when people greet each other with warm smiles and pure hearts,” President Muizzu said.
The President further noted that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) likened the strong bond created by caring and helping other believers as a strong foundation. He said Eid is a moment to remember Muslim brothers and sisters far and near, and in particular, the people of Gaza. He prayed to Allah SWT to bless the people of Palestine, who continue to sacrifice in the defence of the Holy Mosque and for the sake of the sacred land. The President reaffirmed the deep compassion and relentless support of the Maldivians for the people of Palestine, asking Allah to bless them abundantly.
The President underscored that the true essence of Eid lies in bringing joy to elderly parents, strengthening neighbourly and familial bonds, and offering guidance and blessings through exemplary conduct.
