Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Limited (MTCC) had completed 26 projects last year, marking an exceptional operational performance by the State-owned firm.
According to MTCC’s 2024 annual report, the company completed 26 out of the 189 projects that were underway by the end of the last year.
The completed projects list include, land reclamation, shore protection, port and airport development spanning the entire country. MTCC also carried out road construction, construction, football stadiums, survey and consultancy services last year.
MTCC had completed six land reclamation and shore protection projects in 2024, including Maafaru, Noonu Atoll, Ethere Madivaru, Alifu Alifu Atoll, Innamaadhoo, Raa Atoll, Vilufushi, Thaa Atoll along with northwest area of the Velana International Airport and Hoarafushi Airport.
According to statistics, MTCC completed the development of harbours in eight different islands last year. These include Kanduoih-giri and Villimale’ in Kaafu Atoll, Maalhos, Alifu Alifu Atoll, Muli, Meemu Atoll, Baarah, Haa Alifu Atoll, Kumundoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Kamadhoo, Baa Atoll and Hulhumale’ harbour one.
In addition, the second phase of the Maafaru International Airport development project was also completed by MTCC last year.
Last year, MTCC completed three road construction projects which included one in Hoarafushi, Haa Alifu Atoll, Fuvahmulah City and the asphalt paving of part of Velana Airport.
Construction projects completed by MTCC during 2024, included the renovation of the Thoddoo Islamic Center and laying the subbase of the football fields in Funadhoo, Shaviyani Atoll and Fuvahmulah Dhandimagu district.
As for survey and consultancy services, MTCC, last year, rendered its services for the Nilandhoo Airport Reclamation project, Guraidhoo Airport and provided consultancy for the improvement of the service quality of the cargo terminal of Velana International Airport.

Key initiatives in 2024 included a structured rollout of quality assurance
protocols at work sites, reorganization of teams to improve efficiency, and the commissioning of a new dredging vessel, Bodu Jarraafa 2, which increased the company’s daily dredging capacity by 29 percent.
