President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to prioritising the organisation of the Hajj pilgrimage to ensure the best possible experience for Maldivian pilgrims. The President made the statement in a meeting with the Maldivian pilgrims in Makkah.
In his address, the President said this year’s Hajj will be a historic one for the people of the Maldives. He noted that under the special decision of the Saudi government and its Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, Maldives had been included in the Makkah Route Initiative this year, facilitating significantly easier travel procedures for Maldivian pilgrims. He expressed gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support and facilitation.
The President acknowledged previous difficulties faced by pilgrims when undertaking the Hajj pilgrimage. However, he noted that nearly all such difficulties have now been addressed and resolved. He assured that the government will give top priority to providing the best possible arrangements for pilgrims, from the very first stages of their travel and until their return to the Maldives.
