President Muizzu Pledges Unwavering Support for Parents in Shaping Future Generations

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his administration's steadfast commitment to supporting parents in their efforts to cultivate a generation that is not only happy and healthy but also deeply rooted in Islamic values. In a statement commemorating the Global Day of Parents, he extended greetings and congratulations to families across the nation, recognising the dedication of young and first-time parents as they embrace the challenges of child-rearing.

Designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012, the Global Day of Parents serves as a reminder of the fundamental role parents play in shaping the lives of their children. The occasion acknowledges their selfless commitment and highlights the importance of a nurturing family environment in a child's development.

In his statement, President Muizzu highlighted that parents are central to the nation's future, drawing attention to the trials faced by those navigating parenthood for the first time. "On this Global Day of Parents, let us celebrate young and first-time parents who, through countless trials and tribulations, embrace the noble duty of nurturing and shaping future generations," he stated.

He reiterated his government's commitment to ensuring parents receive the support needed to fulfil their responsibilities. Providing this assistance, he noted, is essential to fostering a generation that is not only physically and emotionally well but also firmly anchored in Islamic principles.

Outlining his administration's approach, the president stressed the importance of equipping parents with necessary resources, creating an environment conducive to child-rearing, and expanding opportunities that enable them to succeed. "My administration remains committed to supporting parents by providing the necessary resources, environment, and opportunities they need to raise happy and healthy children who uphold Islamic principles," he affirmed.

This year's Global Day of Parents theme, "Raising Parents", reinforces the idea that parenting is a learnt skill requiring time, guidance, and essential resources. It underscores the need to ensure carers have the tools and support necessary to fulfil their roles effectively.
