Addu City road development project nears completion

The Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure has announced that majority of the road development project in Addu City has reached its conclusion. The project's construction contract has been granted to the Road Development Corporation (RDC).

The Addu City road development project aims to upgrade over 100km of roads. Beyond road enhancements, the project includes the integration of drainage systems, street lighting, and surveillance cameras into a CCTV network. Initially, the previous administration had planned to construct 60km of roads in Addu with a cement base layer. However, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has opted for paved roads and comprehensive development instead.

Minister of State for Construction and Infrastructure Ibrahim Nazeem is currently on a visit to Addu to oversee the project's progress. The ministry stated that 92.61% of the roads encompassed by the project have been completed. The government estimates the total expenditure for road construction to be around USD18 million.
