CSC urges wage equality

The Civil Service Commission of the Maldives (CSC) has urged the government to accelerate efforts in achieving wage equality across all civil service positions. President of CSC Mohamed Nasih emphasised the imperative in a message commemorating National Civil Service Day.

In his message, Nasih highlighted the pivotal role of the CSC, representing a significant portion of the Maldivian workforce. He underscored the evolving landscape of service provision, influenced by technological advancements and shifting societal needs, necessitating continual enhancement of civil servants' skills and capabilities to ensure efficient service delivery.

Additionally, Nasih acknowledged recent salary increments for some professionals in education and healthcare within the civil service. He also emphasised that many remain untouched by these positive changes.

Expressing concern over the lingering wage disparities, Nasih emphasised the toll it takes on the security of civil service employees, who diligently serve despite the challenges. Urging prompt action, he called upon the government to extend wage revisions to all civil servants across different levels and sectors, expediting the establishment of comprehensive wage equality.

Furthermore, Nasih highlighted the pivotal role of CSC in executing government policies and serving the public. He also emphasised the necessity for clear, straightforward, and transparent approaches in engaging with service users.
