Five individuals trained to conduct Media Ethics Course

The British High Commission has facilitated training for five individuals to effectively carry out a Media Ethics Course.

The course is notably a joint collaboration between Alinea International, Islamic University of Maldives (IUM), Maldives Media Institute (MMI) by PSM news, Maldives Broadcasting Commission and as well as Maldives Media Council (MMC).

Lead Developer Rae Munawwar provided insight on the course, highlighting that the course is designed to teach ethical standards which must be complied with as journalists. Rae emphasised that with the provided training, the goal is to streamline and simply the entire process.

The media ethics course is integrated into the UK Development's Maldives Communication Governance Project. While it falls under the journalism development branch, the responsibility for its implementation has been assigned by the British High Commission to Alinea International, a Canadian telecommunication company.

Although the ethics course was initially conducted by Alinea International, after training the course facilitators, the company entered into an agreement with five individuals to oversee the course implementation in the Maldives which encompasses, IUM, MMI, MBC, MMC and Maldives Journalist Association (MJA).
