HDC allocates land for motorsports activities

Housing Development Corporation Limited (HDC) has identified and allocated land from Hulhumale' for racing and drifting purposes to Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation. The handover agreement was signed by Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu and Managing Director of HDC Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed. The agreement outlines the specialisation of 50,000 square feet of land for racing and drifting purposes.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minster Rafiu expressed his appreciation to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for his efforts in establishing facilities aimed at enhancing the growth of sports. The minister observed that the allocation of land for racing will fulfil the aspirations of youth, while introducing two new sports in the country. Additionally, Minister Rafiu also expressed his deepest gratitude to HDC for its efforts in determining land and the necessary facilities to commence these sporting activities.

During the ceremony, Managing Director of HDC Fazul Rasheed stated that the corporation will provide its maximum efforts to assist the government in fulfilling all the commitments outlined in the government's manifesto. He further revealed that the project will be completed as a joint-collaborative project with the assistance of two associations.

This initiative targets to resolve the challenges faced due to the lack of area to conduct motorsport activities. The development of a Racing and Drift Sports Arena will undoubtedly provide opportunities for motorsport activities to be conducted safely.
