Required materials dispatched for Thoddoo road development

The necessary materials required for the modernisation of road development have been dispatched Thoddoo, Alif Alif Atoll. The project was entrusted to Road Development Corporation limited (RDC) in September 2023.

The scope of the project includes the tarring of a 2.2km road, installing drainage systems and streetlights. The project worth USD 5 million funded by the government, is contemplated to finish in a period of two years. Floods due to unfavourable weather conditions have been observed to be the biggest challenge the island currently faces. Hence, the development of roads will prove to be a potential solution to address this issue. Additionally, the project outlines the development of the main road of the island, as well as roads in which government administrations have been established.

Thoddoo is an island in which the tourism industry continues to grow through local tourism. While the island encompasses over 50 guest houses, the development of roads will undoubtedly serve as a convenience to provide services within the tourism industry.
