Road development project materials dispatched to three islands

The necessary materials pertaining to modernisation of road development have been dispatched to three islands including, Manadhoo; Noonu Atoll, Kendhikulhudhoo; Noonu Atoll and as well as Alifushi; Raa Atoll. Road Development Corporation (RDC) will be undertaking all the practical work in relation to the project.

RDC informed that efforts are underway to dispatch vehicles along with the materials needed to establish the work-sites.

Additionally, the Manadhoo road development project encompasses the tarring of 4.2km roads, the installation of draining systems and as well as the provision of street lights. This project amounts to USD 4.9 million.

Furthermore, as part of the Kendhikulhudhoo progression plan, 3.7km of road is slated for tarring. Concurrently, drainage systems will be installed alongside the facilitation of street lights, with the total amount being USD 5.9 million.

Moreover, it was emphasised that RDC is prepared to initiate the project in Alifushi. Under this initiative, 8.3km of roads will be tarred. Concurrently, water systems and street lights will be installed. Remarkably, this project totals to more than USD 5.8 million.

It was also underscored that this project had initially been entrusted to the prior administration. However, the current administration has committed to upgrading roads on islands to modern standards. This entails developing all roads in cities and major roads commonly utilised in other islands.
