President holds discussion with Maavah Council and WDC

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has engaged in discussions with the Maavashu Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) to address their concerns and the most pertinent needs of the residential community of Laamu Atoll. The meeting was held at the Secretariat of the Maavashu Council.

During the meeting, the council observed that President Dr. Muizzu visiting Maavashu as the first destination of his visit to Laamu Atoll indicates the priority given to the island. Noting the travelling difficulties faced to other islands of the atoll as they were located further, the council requested the development of a second airport in Maavashu, if the government decides to establish an additional airport within the atoll. Furthermore, the council members shed light on the importance of dredging land to allocate land plots, while advancing the tourism and health sector as well.

President Dr. Muizzu and Cabinet Ministers present at the meeting provided the latest updates on the issues raised by the council. The president further affirmed that the concerns of the council will be considered, ensuring that the projects suggested by the council will commence.
