MACL transfers VIA road development related works to RDC

Maldives Airport Company Limited (MACL) and Road Development Corporation (RDC) have entered into an agreement to enhance the road infrastructure at Velana International Airport (VIA). The agreement signed by MACL's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed and RDC's Managing Director Brigadier General (rtd) Ali Zuhair outlines RDC's responsibilities in developing and maintaining the airport roads.

Under the agreement, RDC will undertake tasks such as road development, repair, resurfacing, and line markings at VIA. Additionally, RDC will be responsible for the maintenance of the airport roads.

During the signing ceremony, CEO Ibrahim Shareef highlighted the significance of partnering with a local company like RDC for such developmental projects. He noted that while MACL has an internal team for road repairs, entrusting specialized tasks to RDC would expedite the process and allow for better handling of emergency repairs.

In response, RDC's Managing Director expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with MACL and affirmed RDC's commitment to assisting government entities, including industrial development projects initiated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's administration.

MACL emphasised that the development of VIA's roads to modern standards would improve their usability and ensure the safety of all users. This partnership between MACL and RDC aims to enhance the infrastructure at Velana International Airport for the benefit of passengers and airport personnel alike.
