MPL inaugurates state-of-the-art labourer's shelter

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has officially unveiled a state-of-the-art shelter for labourers working in the port area, addressing long-standing complaints about the lack of accessible resting facilities in the harbour zone.

During the 2023 presidential campaign, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu acknowledged the concerns of the labourers and assured them that their issues would be addressed. President Muizzu specifically highlighted the insufficient availability of rest areas as a primary concern for the labourers.

The inauguration of the labour shelter was inaugurated by CEO of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) Mohamed Waheed along with Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information, and Arts Ibrahim Waheed, Principal Secretary to the President on Public Policy Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim and member of Male' City Council from Hulhumale' Ibrahim Shujau.

In an interview with PSM News, labourers expressed gratitude for the efforts made by President Dr. Muizzu and his administration in addressing the challenges they have faced in their working environment over the past 25 years.

MPL has declared that the newly inaugurated labour shelter is a modern two-story building designed to meet the needs and expectations of the workers.
