Fenaka to address water shortage issue in Addu

Fenaka Corporation Limited has stated its efforts to address the water shortage issue affecting all interconnected islands in Addu City by importing spare parts from overseas.

The disruption in water services on the connected islands of Addu resulted from an electricity supply issue to the water pump. In response, Fenaka is procuring variable frequency drives (VFDs) for the Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant to resolve the issue.

Speaking to PSM News, Managing Director of Fenaka Muaz Mohamed Rasheed said that steps are being taken to rectify the recent water cut in Addu. As such, he said that a VFD drive has been dispatched to Addu and collaborative efforts involving engineers from Fenaka and Male' Water and Sewerage Company Private Limited (MWSC) are underway for installation.

Additionally, Muaz highlighted a discrepancy in the VFD drive models between Male' City and Addu, leading to the importation of the specific VFD drive model required for Addu. He said that the arrival of the necessary model is expected soon.

The interruption in water supply is causing significant inconvenience to the residents of the connected islands. Water services in the connected islands of Addu have been subject to billing since 2017.
